Soulwax / 2manyDJs – Ghent Studio Sessions, 2006

This limited edition collection features portraits of Belgian electronic pioneers Soulwax—also known as 2manyDJs—captured in their three-story studio in the heart of Ghent for Mixmag in 2006.

The band, led by brothers David and Stephen Dewaele, has always blurred the lines between rock, electro, and experimental sound. I’ve always really liked their music, and for this shoot I wanted to do something that reflected their playfully inventive spirit.

I handed them a Polaroid camera and asked them to take photos of each other around the studio—how they saw one another. Then, with those Polaroids stuck to their foreheads, I shot their portraits. A kind of double exposure of personality: one view through their lens, one through mine.

The collection includes a group shot of the full band, a portrait of the Dewaele brothers (aka 2manyDJs), and the polaroid series.

Each print is signed and numbered by me in a limited edition of 50 per image.

A playful, layered look at one of the most creative forces in modern electronic music.
